At the Rotterdam Community Center, we nourish our neighbors in mind, body, and soul, and serve as a community hub where all people can connect to the resources they need.

Our Bread of Life Food Pantry is by appointment at various times during the week. Bread of Life can help you with three meals for three days per member of your household. To set up an appointment, call René at 518.364.3205, leave your name and the best phone number to contact you, and we will assist you as soon as we can.

Upon arrival for your appointment, you'll be invited to fill out a form regarding what food items they'd like to to take home. Our friendly volunteers will then fill the order and bring it to your vehicle!

Inspired by a Daily Gazette article highlighting the high rate of students receiving free or reduced lunches in the Mohonasen School District, Messiah opened our Bread of Life Food Pantry in a tiny church kitchen space on October 4th, 2015.

Since that time, the Bread of Life Food Pantry has grown to serve over 1300 meals a month within US Hunger & Nutrition Assistance Program (HPNAP) guidelines. With the generous support of the Schenectady Foundation's Healthy Food Access for All program, in May 2022 the Bread of Life Food Pantry moved into a new, state of the art, one thousand square foot facility at the Rotterdam Community Center at 705 Curry Road in Rotterdam.

The Bread of Life Food Pantry currently operates four physical sessions a month: 2nd Monday from 3p - 8p, 3rd Monday from 9a - 2p, 4th Monday from 3p - 8p and the 4th Saturday from 9a - 2p. It also supports the Food Pantries of the Capital District by packing meals for delivery on a weekly basis. Our December Saturday session has been rescheduled to the 20th due to the holiday and we will also operate two emergency sessions through the remainder of 2025 given the lapse in SNAP benefits on November 12th, November 26th, December 10th and December 17th, all from 9:00am - 12:00pm. Bread of Life also supports the Food Pantries for the Capital District by packing meals for delivery on a weekly basis.

Need food? Messiah provides healthy and nutritious food to all our neighbors in two important ways here in Rotterdam, New York.

BREAD OF LIFE FOOD PANTRY

PRODUCE PANTRY

The Produce Pantry operates every Friday at 4:30pm. The Produce Pantry operates on a lottery-based system (thus there's no need to arrive until 4:15pm) and assists our neighbors with fresh fruits and vegetables to supplement existing meal options. Due to the lapse in SNAP benefits we will also be providing potatoes and additional items through the end of 2025.

While many of our neighbors may need a full service appointment with our Bread of Life Food Pantry to get a wide variety of necessary food items for the weeks ahead, some may simply need to stop by and pick up some fresh produce for a couple days. That's where our weekly Produce Pantry at the Rotterdam Community Center comes in!

Guests often gather in our parking lot and a beautiful sense of community has developed over the last two years! We currently serve roughly 130 families each week.
