"The Covenant Chain: Schenectady and People of the Long House"

Join the Schenectady County Historical Society for an evening on the history of the Iroquois, or Haudenosaunee, meaning "People of the Long House" in this land. Schenectady's proximity to the Iroquois and its involvement in the fur trade made it an important location for maintaining the Covenant Chain. The town served as a meeting point for trade and diplomacy, strengthening the alliance between the Haudenosaunee and the British.
