At the Rotterdam Community Center, we nourish our neighbors in mind, body, and soul, and serve as a community hub where all people can connect to the resources they need.

In partnership with the Schenectady County Historical Society, we are thrilled to offer regular presentations about local history.

"Hauling the World"

Michael Diana, Education and Programs Manager of the Schenectady County Historical Society, returns for a Local History Night event, "Hauling the World". Schenectady has a vibrant industrial history much of which was driven by railroads. From humble steam-powered beginnings to dynamic diesel-powered titans, locomotives were once the pride of our area. We'll discuss the meteoric rise of ALCo, its shocking and sudden decline as well as its enduring legacy in our city. Together we’ll learn how Schenectady became “the City that Hauls the World.” Join us for this interesting presentation with light refreshments.
